Welcome to Jewells of the Desert Dance Club.

The club was formed 25 years ago to provide dance opportunities for women who were starting out on their own and couldn't afford regular dance classes. Members grow as dancers and also enjoy the camaraderie of a great group of women.

Our workouts are designed for all shapes, sizes, ages, abilities and dance levels -- from beginner though advanced. You may feel a little lost at first, and everyone learns at a different pace. Remember, we all started at the same place. As you learn various dance steps and dances, you will develop eye-hand coordination and memory skills and get a good low-impact aerobic workout.

If you get more adventuresome, you can join the troupe and perform. Troupe members dance in Ghawazee tribe attire. Costumes that are fully covered by todays standards. The veil on the face is our trademark. We also use a lot of props: canes, fans, zills, swords, knives, tambourines, veils, etc.

The cost is $1.00 donation when you can. Ask for a card on your first day. Have me sign your card 8 times, and you will receive free surprise. If you have any questions, please ask at any time (suzannaruby@yahoo.com) We meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at MY PLACE 140-A WYATT DR.(new site because the city is now charging ) Las Cruces, New Mexico. Wear loose and cool clothing.

HOSSAM RAMZY AND PHIL THORNTON: music for bellydancing
The perfect companion to Amira's "Bellydance 101" DVD, Amira's "Music for Bellydance" features 11 more tracks from these world-renowned stars of Egyptian music to keep you dancing. This is a good video to start with. We have very similar styles so you won't be confused when you come to my class.
